If you're an experienced diver looking to take your skills to the next level, the PADI Tec 40 Diver Course might be just what you need. This program awards divers multiple certifications in one, making it a comprehensive and efficient way to improve your diving abilities.

The PADI Tec 40 program is aimed directly at the recreational diver, which means participants may complete the course using traditional recreational equipment. The only provision is that the BCD or wing needs to have D-Rings capable of attaching a side slung cylinder. This makes it accessible and achievable for many divers who are looking to challenge themselves.

PADI Tec 40 Diver Pre-Requisites

You must be a minimum of 16 years old and a certified diver for at least 3 months.

You should be a certified Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent.

You must be certified as Nitrox and Deep 40 diver or equivalent

You must have logged at 20 hours underwater or 40 dives using open circuit.

There are 6 manuals & quizzes (Equipment, Physics, Physiology, Management, Confined and Open Water Divers)

MUST participate in at least one confined water skill session and 5 open water dives.

What To Expect On The PADI Tec 40 Diver Course

During the course, divers will be required to fit a 2 metre/7-foot primary regulator hose, and dive to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet. They can use any optional combination of air, nitrox, trimix and/or oxygen (optional Trimix), and must complete a maximum of 10 minutes of decompression.

When completing a decompression dive, divers must use a bailout gas that is safe to breathe at the maximum operating depth of the decompression dive. If this gas is different from the primary breathing gas, divers must use a multi-gas switch computer and perform no-decompression dives. This ensures that divers are well-prepared for any potential emergencies they may encounter while diving.

Divers who complete the PADI Tec 40 Diver Course will certify to use up to 100% oxygen to extend their no decompression dive times by using multi-level gas switch dive procedures. The bottom or back gas maximum PO2 is 1.4, and a maximum of 1.6 (1.4 to 1.5 recommended) for extended no-stop diving. When divers are switching gases, they must use a multi-gas switch computer to ensure they are using the correct mixture.

Finally, divers who complete this course will certify to use air, nitrox, oxygen, and there is a trimix option with a maximum END/EAD of maximum 30 metres/100 foot. Overall, the PADI Tec 40 Diver Course is an excellent opportunity for experienced divers to gain 2 Columnnew skills and certifications while pushing their limits in a safe and controlled environment.
